Astrophytum asterias Super Kabuto Star type
The species is of garden origin. Now exist wide range of different hybrids, which probably include genes of Astrophytum capricorne. The story probably started with a mutation of one single Astrophytum asterias specimen that was found in nature. The plant was found in 1981 by Masaomi Takeo in one American garden centre who sold the plant to Tony Sato in Japan. Nowadays, we know tens of different versions of Astrophytum asterias cv. Super Kabuto, on example Snow, Zebra, V-type, Hanazono, Star shape, Kikko and others, but also thousands hybrids between them.
